Tradition says that one gets a cup of sacred water from the fountain.

You then wash the finger tips.

After rinsing out one's mouth, the water is spit into the bottom of the fountain, near one's feet.

After one has cleaned the lips, fingertips, and mouth, you are clean and may approach the sacred fire. One carefully catches the smoke and rubs it onto one's body.
