San Juan, Puerto Rico (Part 1)
San Juan is really 2 cities in one. Old San Juan has buildings dating back hundreds of years. The streets are very narrow and there is a city ordinance prohibiting work on the outside of buildings by anyone except a special group with certain styles and colors chosen by the city council. The aim is to preserve the look of Old San Juan. | |
New
San Juan is across a bridge and has many tall buildings
and modern, wide streets. Notice the trees on the roof.
About half of the buildings have this roof garden
effect. It is hard to decide whether the statue in front of that modern building was ancient art or modern art. Interesting, though. |
